When I finally got to work trying to find the right ways to start a blog, it was an endless cycle of confusion, frustration, and fear.

Instead of repeating this cycle any longer, I started to experiment. I tried different things with my blog to see what platform I should use, what things to include in my blog, what niches are the most profitable (and what are NOT), how to write good blog posts, and how to actually make money from a blog.

I went through much trial and error but I learned a few things about blogging:

If you want to make money blogging, you need to pick a profitable niche

I was stuck on starting a blog for so long because people were always saying to pick a niche that you are passionate about. That held me back for so LONG because I didn’t feel passionate enough about one niche and so I wondered if I’d ever be able to be a successful blogger. I ended up trying to find a different “work from home” job that I wouldn’t mind doing instead because I felt like I wasn’t a good writer, I would probably have a few ideas for a niche but would quickly run out of ideas or write too short of posts, and that would lead me to failure.

Clearly, that’s not the case. You don’t need to be so focused on what you are passionate about when choosing a niche but rather find a niche you’re interested in that will make you money, and then you can expand from there.

Writing blog posts is actually easy with the right template.

When I first developed my dream of becoming a blogger, there were only a few things I was worried about, one of them being writing blog posts. I was never an English guru and the majority of my papers usually had minimal but some type of grammar issue. However, I learned that when you have a blog, you are basically writing down exactly what you’re thinking like you’re talking to someone. It’s not like a school paper, it’s more relaxed and comfortable.

I also learned how to quickly whip out blog posts by following a template I use. I’ve come up with a list of ideas for my blog posts, and then I’m able to write it out in about 30 minutes. This template includes all the essentials to utilize keywords, keep your reader hooked, and bring in sales.

You don’t need to have a large social media following or be an experienced social media marketer to bring in traffic & make enough money.

This was another fear of mine with having a blog career. I wanted to have a successful blog, but I really didn’t want to need a “well-known face” or be “famous/popular” to get there. The blogging world has changed so much over the years, and what you do and don’t need to have to run a six-figure blog is so different now. Everything from what you need to have on your blog, to how to promote your blog is very different from how it used to be, and it’s so much easier and better now!!
